File and folder counts differ slightly after backup.
After backing up using smart update and then rebooting I noticed the file and folder counts differ very slightly between the source and target drives. Is this something that I should be concerned about? The previous times that I had backed I thought I remembered the counts being identical. I can boot from either drive without a problem.

No. As explained in the "What's going to happen" section of the UI, some files aren't copied (temporary files and the like). Your file count will change simply by restarting...
