SD and TM side by side on APFS?
Now that TM works with APFS will SD backups and TM backups be able to share an APFS volume, similar to how it was possible with HFS+ a few generations ago?
If so, what would be the best way to configure a TM backup disk now, so it will be possible when SD is ready for Big Sur? |

You wouldn't share a volume, no - you'd simply create another APFS volume in the same container. You'd probably want to set a reserve, though, or the TM volume would take over the entire container.
Remember, though - doing this doesn't give you any hardware redundancy. So if your backup drive dies, or the container gets corrupt, you lose all your backups.

Understood....I like to have SD for entire restore, if needed and TM for historical purposes.
