Migrating to an SSD
Hello,
Currently have Lion with recovery partition and all user data on a single physical HDD. I would like to install smaller SSD drive to have everything EXCEPT user files and use the original drive for the user files. I know how to set the user's settings to point to the 2nd drive. What I'm not sure how to do is to move everything else to the SSD. What would be a good approach to accomplish this task? |

I'd use "Sandbox - shared users", Corby.

That looks great. Will it capture the recovery partition?
Also, I forgot to mention that I use filevault2. I'm guessing the newly created drive will be unencrypted and that I will need to encrypt it after I get everything working....does that sound right? |

No. And yes, that's what I'd do.
To 'copy' the recovery partition, simply reinstall Lion on the drive you're copying to. That'll recreate the recovery partition and refresh the OS quite painlessly.

Thanks.
For anyone following this thread: 1) I haven't tried this yet 2) Some googling has revealed that filevault2 and having user data on a 2nd disk can be troublesome. I'll update this if I have any more info. Cheers |
