Permissions on clone
Hi
I maintain a couple of SD! clones of my MBP internal..... I recently decided to do a clean install of my system due to the Finder losing contact with external drives at times. This all went well - I've noted that if I connect the clone drive (of the old, now deleted system), after booting from the internal, I can navigate into any user folder and get files. Handy and convenient for grabbing files, but I'm sure in the past this wasn't possible, at least with a laptop drive being accessed in target disk mode - tend to see lots of folders with no entry signs and permission denied when trying to access.... Is there a problem with my clone/permissions? or is this normal? The clone boots normally btw. |

That depends on the UIDs of the accounts. If they're different, you won't be able to get access to the files unless you turn ownership off for the volume in Get Info.
