Pause Parallels

Does anyone know of a way to automatically pause Parallels at a certain time or after a period of inactivity? I have my SD set up to back up every night, and it always hangs because I live in Parallels (for school). If I can find a way to automatically pause it, I think I'll finally be happy with SD.
