It’s hard to believe another year’s gone by, but dates rarely lie, and there it is - the 31st, soon to flip.
Rather than turn inward and reflect on events here, I’d like to turn outward and thank each and every reader; all those who took the time to send me mail - those who needed support, needed to vent, to compliment or complain; the kind people who provided comfort as we lost our dog Ketzl and who cheered the arrival of Taiko; the editors at Macworld who honored us again; the users who honor us every time they use or recommend a Shirt Pocket product; all friends, old and new.
To all of you: thank you, and a very Happy New Year to you and yours.

It’s been nice ‘meeting’ you and working with you. SuperDuper is my current favorite 3rd party Mac Application, just great.
Happy New Year to you and your family and team too

Thanks, Dave, for your support and for patiently answering all of my questions.
SD backs up my entire system every MWF, every TTS, on odd and even numbered Sundays, and on the first of odd and even numbered months. Thus, I always have backups 1 and 2 days old, 1 and 2 weeks old, and 1 and 2 months old.
You might be surprised at the number of times I’ve restored one or more files from these backups. I haven’t yet had to restore the whold HD due to a failure, but I sleep better knowing that I could do so.
Happy New Year! Joe Hansen

I am a new Super Duper user based on the strength of the Eddy and reviews, but I’m having a problem with scheduling and “quit unexpectedly” errors. I’d like to contact Shirt Pocket but the only way I can find is for me to have a .mac email account, which I don’t have. Can someone tell me how to contact Shirt Pocket another way in order to get the help I need? thmiii

Reading Joe Hansen’s insightful comment about his BU schedule was an eye-opener for me and gives me some clues about the potential of Super Duper that I’d not realized and gave me some insight into the “log”, which apparently lists BU plans or types, not just a record of executions. I’m accumulating my experiences as a new user and will, in time, offer some ideas about improving the interface. thmiii

My heartfelt thanks to Dave Nanian for patiently hand-holding me, a recent Mac convert and new to Super Duper, and getting me going on Super Duper. I’m an old retired guy, first a refugee from DEC mainframes, later from PCs, but I have always been strict about BU even though I didn’t, and don’t understand much of it sometimes. Now that I don’t have staff to to this stuff and have to do it myself, I bumble around, but it’s worth it: I was almost bankrupted once over the lack of proper BU on a mainframe computer, and I never want to go there again.
I’m very interested in Joe Nanian’s BU drill, but on closer reading I find I have some questions. Are those “smart updates” you are doing, or are they one of the other variety, or some combinaton?
