Need to restore, but exclude one folder on target volume

Hi!

The backup of my internal hard disk is on a external disk. I need to restore.

Is it possible to delete all the files of my internal hard disk and copy the complete backup to the hard disk, but leave one folder on the target volume (= internal hard disk) alone??

Thanks for your reply!

Jasper

No, that's not possible, but perhaps copy that folder to the backup first?

I have not enough space. The folder is too big.

Besides: When I restore the whole system, is the new system completely the same as the original one? Could it be that I get problems? Could it be that the restored system runs slower or something like that? In other words: Is a restored OS X as good as an original OS X?

->I just have a little problem in my system, but I cannot find the cause. That's why I want to restore the whole system. Is this the wrong way to solve my problem?

I don't know why it wouldn't be as good, Jasper -- the whole idea is that the backup, once restored, is the same.

Okay. That's all I want to know.

I just asked, because I have read that a complete restore should only be done if other options failed.
